Krizz Kaliko’s R&B album, “Go,” is good… really good

I’ll be honest, I don’t really have much of anything from Strange Music in my music collection or in any type of rotation aside from maybe a few guest verses from Tech N9ne on other rapper’s songs. That’s changing with this new album from Strange Music’s Krizz Kaliko.

Titled Go, the album is Krizz’s full jump into R&B, soul, and funk and it’s pretty incredible. Krizz has always showcased his vocal prowess in his hip-hop music with hooks, intros, and chants, I mean, we alway knew he could sing. But I’m blown away with the direction he took with this project. I guess maybe I would have expected “trap R&B”of some sort from someone out of the Strange Music camp, but I was way wrong. He channels Rick James on “Outta Line,” offers up some Kansas City blues on “Big FU,” and “Talk Up On It” could be a hit on a Bruno Mars level. One of my favorite joints is “Bite Your Tongue,” which reminds me of some ’80s electro-soul. The groove is so nasty!

Okay, enough talking, check out the “Talk Up On It” video here, and the full album below:
